Looking through the videos I took from my Eurotrip earlier this year makes me really miss traveling and all the amazing things Jessica and I experienced together in foreign places. I’ve been suffering from a major case of the travel bugs ever since and it’s been pretty hard to shake it off. I’ll be taking advantage of all the three-day weekends this year to explore around the West coast until I can save enough vacation days and money to fund another big international trip!
To be honest, London didn’t feel too foreign to us and I think it was a good way for us to ease into traveling to a new place. We didn’t really have to suffer through being lost as looking for directions, wi-fi and figuring out the Tube system was pretty easy. The fact that everyone spoke English also made us feel somewhat close to home :)
However, being in Paris was a completely different experience. We were lucky enough to stay at a friend’s apartment just outside of Paris and they were extremely helpful guiding us through some of the best restaurants around town. My friend Daisy was also kind enough to take us to see the Eiffel tower at night, seeing it sparkle just after sunset was one of the most magical sights I’ve seen. Now I understand why people call it the most romantic city in the world.
One of the most memorable things we did was take the bike tour by Fat Tire around the gardens of Versailles. We stopped by a local market to pick up some goodies for our lunch picnic by the Grand Canal and finished the day walking around the estate at our own pace. By riding the bike, we were able to see much more of the incredibly huge palace in one day!
