My friends from southern California planned a trip for us to meet half way in San Luis Obispo over a weekend in March. It was a great way for us to catch up while exploring through a new city! We had an amazing itinerary filled with wine tasting and outdoorsy adventures thanks to Lydia and the Airbnb property we rented for the weekend was perfect with a super cool patio, hammock and grill.
Although we only had two days, we made the most of our time by planning ahead. We were able to check out two wineries for some wine tasting at Tolosa Winery and Autry Cellars, they were conveniently located near-by our rental. Then we explored through downtown SLO and stopped by Firestone Grill for one of the best tri-tip sandwiches I’ve ever had. We also discovered Scout Coffee Co., a super trendy cafe with lots of yummy afternoon treats, I highly recommend it for a great cup of coffee for your midday boost!
On day two, we got up early to head out to Pismo Beach to grab lunch at one of the beach-side restaurants, Hoagies. I loved their specialty Bloody Mary topped with succulent cocktail shrimps, pickles and olives! We headed towards the beach after lunch and came across a beautiful tree we immediately attempted to climb. It’s been over a decade since I’ve dared to climb a tree, it was terrifying. But our day’s adventure didn’t stop there, we rented our own ATVs at BJ’s ATV Rentals and headed to the beach filled with sand dunes of all sizes. We learned the meaning of teamwork by getting stuck in a deep ditch for 45 minutes, strategizing Julie’s way out.
