Cheuk came to visit me this past week and I got us tickets to finally go see Ai Weiwei’s art exhibit at Alcatraz on Sunday. I couldn’t remember the last time I went to go see the Alcatraz Island so this was also a great opportunity to refresh my memory on the rich history of the old state penitentiary. I was happy to find out that our tour ticket also came with the audio tour option because it was a fun way to learn more about the stories behind the different segments of the landmark! I also had a great time taking my new Canon lens out for a spin, I haven’t had an opportunity to really test it out and now I’m super excited about being able to take this with me on my upcoming Eurotrip.
I think we spent a good two-hours on the island and if I can give you guys just one word of advice, I strongly suggest you wear some comfortable pair of shoes. The relatively low-heeled boots I was wearing turned out to be such a pain walking up and down steep hills and many stairways. I ended up changing into a pair of sneakers from my gym bag before continuing our day by Fisherman’s Wharf as I pretended to be a tour guide.
