This year, my family took a short trip to Sonoma over Christmas for some quality time. We stayed at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa for a relaxing time and enjoyed wine tasting at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. We had originally planned to spend Christmas in Lake Tahoe but the cabin we booked didn’t allow us to bring Willy so we had to change plans last minute. Luckily, we found that the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn allows pets with a small fee and planned the holiday itinerary around Sonoma, CA. The best part of our short trip was the Bath Ritual at Willow Stream Spa which consists of a series of steps for the ultimate relaxation and healing experience.
First, you take a quick shower with the exfoliating grape-seed scrub and step into a body-temperature bath before soaking in a hot mineral bath with jacuzzi jets. You have the option of enjoying a refreshing eucalyptus steam room (with a cool shower inside) and the dry sauna before hopping out of the bath house to enjoy the two thermal mineral pools outside. We especially enjoyed the Watsu pool experience in the evening, looking up at the stars while floating on our backs, listening to the calming music being played underwater.
The food in Sonoma was also great, there were many restaurants just within walking distance from our hotel and we discovered the girl & the fig after our wine tasting experience at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards. I wish we had more time to browse their selection of olive oils and stayed for a tasting too.
I loved trying the three cheeses our waitress recommend in our charcuterie plate along with some equally delicious house-cured meats; it was the perfect appetizer with our drinks!
